We talk about my <b>Gold Project</b>. My project was to organize a Creek Cleanup and educate members of the public and Girl Scouts about the importance of keeping our environment clean with a series of presentations. I led 25 volunteers in cleaning a creek in a disadvantaged neighborhood. I took pictures of the creek before and after the cleanup. We made a <b>big difference</b> in the creek and land surrounding the creek. We picked up 64 bags of trash and recycling and many pounds of miscellaneous trash like tires, lawn chairs, rugs, buckets, toys, a bike, etc. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL2ncLjMkJy93mPtAOADyaJUb_dE36zuWVRWkjT5jlyBqjaeT1vb-LsiUC4-8bbvFqFiYcb8oP69edKqOmecQ7hWOE1g3RpJfRDviaF6cz11EqqN9RupTO0_TwmyrOgyQfVJI4BnPXttI/s1600/IMG_1776.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL2ncLjMkJy93mPtAOADyaJUb_dE36zuWVRWkjT5jlyBqjaeT1vb-LsiUC4-8bbvFqFiYcb8oP69edKqOmecQ7hWOE1g3RpJfRDviaF6cz11EqqN9RupTO0_TwmyrOgyQfVJI4BnPXttI/s400/IMG_1776.jpg" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg010wCXfMmZf0TopWeHypPIYMZu3K5_LcWoI0JPfrNZYq_gbFHiCJiKNtAeLTXmREl7WU1GdUieWUlrhfZfBxIxJcYYuJ6SMMx9BZLTCs6Pa7uQBeApEPUwJsHJtf2KpljH0mOkFyO49Q/s1600/LHC.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg010wCXfMmZf0TopWeHypPIYMZu3K5_LcWoI0JPfrNZYq_gbFHiCJiKNtAeLTXmREl7WU1GdUieWUlrhfZfBxIxJcYYuJ6SMMx9BZLTCs6Pa7uQBeApEPUwJsHJtf2KpljH0mOkFyO49Q/s400/LHC.jpg" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXK-QEd93cU_NWjJEmdfp39tmkbQcpD7z1Fdjq6EM6_WyZ6S1Pg8BdL0q6jMU9vfmmX-gViibrFPEcaXbDEbdRzFVAW9aUnKbYVPInUgzsgskNRRZJKd3lX48rGIrKTISpZKcCZrc3p1s/s1600/DSCN7814_635.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXK-QEd93cU_NWjJEmdfp39tmkbQcpD7z1Fdjq6EM6_WyZ6S1Pg8BdL0q6jMU9vfmmX-gViibrFPEcaXbDEbdRzFVAW9aUnKbYVPInUgzsgskNRRZJKd3lX48rGIrKTISpZKcCZrc3p1s/s400/DSCN7814_635.JPG" /></a>Girl Scout Voiceshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16673104148228717511noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6410940568041351712.post-64837630460676267672012-02-16T17:49:00.000-08:002014-06-22T06:52:21.866-07:00"Sow What?" A GS JourneyIn this episode, we talk about 3 of the activities we did to earn our <span style="font-weight:bold;">Senior "Sow What?" Journey</span>. To learn about locally grown food we visited a <span style="font-weight:bold;">Farmer's Market</span> where we sampled various produce, cheeses, cookies and apple cider. We also talked to the farmers about what it is like to run a farm. We shared a meal and toured a <span style="font-weight:bold;">"green" pizzeria</span> that was committed to using locally grown foods and environment friendly practices. We also hosted a <span style="font-weight:bold;">Brownie Bridging event</span> where the girls earned their "Food Power" badge while learning about making healthy choices, the food pyramid, and hunger in our communities. The girls were treated to snacks we prepared using recipes from the Sow What book. They wrote a letter to the President and contributed food items to a local pantry.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin5LC4wNW3sydyyOzRlBpXVm-W23yaWQkL0SIL0jJtVx2CVXXKAF7aVRPTkGEZcLO71LpAGL-0CAxG4KlLjlV9sfPLmPOrog0C1AGhKP8G-ZNXuMdqdaQC3VTx4sjRQUqSzgi74JVNjz0/s1600/Sow+What.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin5LC4wNW3sydyyOzRlBpXVm-W23yaWQkL0SIL0jJtVx2CVXXKAF7aVRPTkGEZcLO71LpAGL-0CAxG4KlLjlV9sfPLmPOrog0C1AGhKP8G-ZNXuMdqdaQC3VTx4sjRQUqSzgi74JVNjz0/s400/Sow+What.jpg" /></a>Girl Scout Voiceshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16673104148228717511noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6410940568041351712.post-49371495668294496722010-04-16T13:48:00.000-07:002014-06-22T07:40:00.903-07:00Silver Award Wrap UpIn this episode, we talk about this <span style="font-weight:bold;">Podcast and our Silver Award</span>.
